ABOUT THE COLLECTION
"Momentum" means the rush, speed and intensity of events, but also the momentum of bodies. At the same time, the word contains the words “moment” and “um”, referring to the ability to perceive moments and the art of noticing and experiencing the moment.
The collection of jewellery created is then a symbol of the elusiveness of the natural cycle of life. The jewellery, which can be put on and worn in several ways, resembles an overflowing mass and dispersing drops flowing between the fingers, symbolizing time. They are deliberately made only for the hands (fingers and palm), which denote to be touched or grasped. Thus, the MOMENTUM collection is a suspension of a rapidly and constantly changing mass in time, giving us a glimpse of the detail of a single moment, while my aim is to emphasize the importance of perceiving and experiencing details and ordinary moments so that life does not just slip through our fingers.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Magdalena Št'astníková graduated from the studio K.O.V. Concept - Object - Meaning at UMPRUM in Prague. Her work is characterised by an abstract organic to fluid morphology, with jewellery often extending beyond the human body and into a space beyond it. Magdalena creates jewellery that is unisex and wearable and combinable in multiple ways.
