ABOUT THE BRAND
The origins of the traditional Czech brand Koh-i-noor date back to 1790, when the court princely architect Joseph Hardtmuth laid the foundations of the business from which his descendants, especially his son Carl and grandson Franz, built one of the world's largest companies in its field. From the KOH-I-NOOR HARDTMUTH factory came many important innovations in the field of writing instruments. For example, the actual production of graphite ink from graphite and clay, patented as early as 1802, the principle of machine production of pencils or the division of graphite pencils according to the hardness of the ink into individual gradations 8B-10H, which was soon adopted by other manufacturers as a worldwide standard. KOH-I-NOOR HARDTMUTH products are also behind a number of achievements. In 1900, the iconic yellow 1500 pencil won a prestigious award at the Grand Prix in Paris and became the most famous pencil in the world.
