ABOUT THE COLLECTION
The concept of the Hidden place collection is based on the need of a person to search for a place where he belongs, to search in his memory for his own child mind and its hidden corners that could answer this question. "I started thinking about stepping out of my childhood into the adult world, and the collection itself was my effort to stay in that childhood world a little longer, only to find at the end of the work that I never actually wanted to leave it," confesses Janja Prokić, explaining what led her to discover the hidden places within herself.
About the author
Janja Prokić was born in Belgrade, Serbia and now lives in Prague. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of Vladimir Skrepl, at the Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of sculptor Kurt Gebauer and graduated in the studio of K.O.V. designer Eva Eisler. She has been creating jewellery since 2011 and has won several Czech Grand Design awards. Jewellery for Janja must have a deeper meaning than just visual aesthetics and all collections are in some way based on her personal life. Her work is inspired by elements of shamanism, symbolism and white magic, as well as her childhood, dreams and fairy tales. Her biggest muse, however, is nature. Each collection is unique and focuses on different motifs.
