JAN VYTISKA

The paintings of Jan Vytiska (1985) follow the specific pop-surrealist line of contemporary Czech painting. Against the backdrop of street art aesthetics and combined with precise painting technique, they are a mixture of pop culture, updated elements of rural mythology, and folklore, which has turned into a fantasy position. Fictional anthropomorphic monsters seem to emerge from the dreamlike insite worlds of ancient communities. However, the mysterious surreal stories are reminiscent of contemporary animated fairy tales for adults in their aesthetics. There is violence and plenty of horror. The scenes presented remain uncompromisingly unreal.

Jan Vytiska, a native of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, is a graduate of the Secondary School of Glass Arts in Valašské Meziříčí and the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava, New Media Studio.
