Each piece is handmade by wrapping epoxy reinforced polypropylene tape.
The earrings are incredibly lightweight.
ABOUT THE COLLECTION
The artist was inspired by natural forms in her Cocoons jewellery collection. Lucie Houdková's work is united by organic shapes, which she intuitively creates by playing with the material from which they are created. The name of the jewellery Cocoons is derived from the abode of caterpillars, but also refers to the way of creating jewellery, i.e. by tangling ribbons.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Lucie Houdková is a graduate of UMPRUM in Prague in the K.O.V. studio under the guidance of Eva Eisler. In her work she uses unconventional materials such as gift ribbon, epoxy or paper. Her jewellery is on the border between design and art. In her own words, she designs and makes jewelry to be wearable, but she does not see it as an accessory to beautify. She sees jewellery as an object that completes the personality of its owner, but at the same time functions in its own right. It can convey a message and cross the boundary from a used object to a work of art.
